This tour is designed for travelers seeking calm, meaning, and a sense of Japanese spiritual culture, rather than religious instruction.
Walking through the temple grounds at a relaxed pace, your certified guide will help you experience the atmosphere shaped by history, architecture, and the natural environment.
Mt. Shosha Engyo-ji is also known internationally as a filming location for The Last Samurai, chosen for its timeless atmosphere and profound sense of place.
The tour is primarily conducted on foot to allow for careful and thoughtful guidance.
An optional Shakyo (sutra copying) experience is available for an additional fee for guests who wish to spend extra time in quiet reflection.

This area is also known internationally as a filming location for The Last Samurai, selected for its timeless atmosphere.

Walking is the standard route; however, a shuttle bus within the temple grounds may be used one way or round trip depending on guest preferences, physical condition, weather, or crowd levels.

◆Important Notes
・This tour involves walking on uneven paths and stone steps within the temple grounds. Please wear comfortable shoes and be cautious at all times.
・Some areas of Mt. Shosha Engyo-ji may not be accessible for guests with mobility impairments or those using wheelchairs. Please inform us of any special needs at the time of booking.
・The tour is primarily conducted on foot; however, a shuttle bus within the temple grounds may be used one way or round trip depending on guest condition, weather, or operational requirements.
・Participation in Shakyo (sutra copying) is optional and available for an additional fee. Payment must be made in cash on site, and availability is subject to local conditions.
・Eating and drinking are not permitted during the guided portion of the tour, except for water as needed.
・The content, route, and schedule of the tour may change without prior notice due to weather conditions, crowd levels, or temple operations.
・We are not responsible for injuries, loss of personal belongings, or damages during the tour. Participants are responsible for their own safety and belongings.
・This tour is not suitable for young children. Participation is not allowed for children under 6 years old.
・Mt. Shosha Engyo-ji may be crowded during peak seasons or holidays, and waiting times or route adjustments may be required.
◆Access to Mt. Shosha Ropeway Sanroku Station
・Access to Mt. Shosha Ropeway Sanroku Station is limited, so please check transportation options in advance.
・The main means of transportation from Himeji Station are the Shinki Bus or a taxi (approx. 30–40 minutes).
・If using the Shinki Bus, the bus stop is at the North Exit of Himeji Station. Buses for Mt. Shosha Ropeway run about every 20 minutes. Timetables and signage may not be available in English.
・If you are unsure about the bus stop, assistance is available at the Himeji City Tourist Information Center (Himeji Sightseeing Navi Port), on the west side of the JR Himeji Station Central Concourse.
